Product details description

Pre-assembled window screen units (screen + frame) are revolutionizing DIY home improvement. Unlike traditional spline screens that require rolling into a track, these units function like a picture frame or a storm window.

  Construction Types

Retro-Fit (Sash-Mount): Designed to fit inside the window jamb, against the glass. They usually have a "L" shaped profile that hides the raw edge of the screen. They are held in place by tension or small screws.

Flush Mount (Exterior): Mounted outside the window frame. These are weather-tight and often used in hurricane-prone areas to protect the glass from debris impact.

Magnetic Frames: The frame has a magnetic strip. The screen is ferrous (metal). You place the screen against the window, and the frame snaps on magnetically from the outside. No tools required for removal.

  Screen Material Options

Fiberglass: The standard. Grey color, flexible, and doesn't crease. It offers good airflow but can tear if punctured by a pet.

Polyester: Stronger than fiberglass. Can be painted to match the window frame.

Stainless Steel/Security Mesh: 304 or 316 grade. Used for "burglar-proof" screens. They are rigid and hard to cut.

Solar/Privacy Mesh: A PVC-coated mesh that blocks 30-50% of sunlight and provides daytime privacy (people can't see in, but you can see out).

  Benefits of Framed Units

Aesthetics: The frame hides the rough edges of the screen mesh, making it look like a finished architectural element rather than a "bug net."

Ease of Replacement: If the screen tears, you replace the whole unit in 5 minutes. Traditional spline screens require removing the old spline, cutting new mesh, and re-rolling—a skill many DIYers lack.
